The CDF Freedom Schools “I Can Make a Difference” theme aligns with the Saint Paul Public Schools’ “Strong Schools, Strong Communities” mission to support our young scholars, staff, and parents to excel and to believe in their ability to make a difference in themselves and in their families, schools, communities, country, and world with hope, education and action.

We have planned a learning experience that is enriching, engaging and enjoyable with the following features:

  • Standards-based Integrated Reading Curriculum with multicultural books,, and Math Enrichment
  • Afternoon Activities in the visual arts, African dance and drumming, health and fitness, step drill team, music productions, choreography, rap/spoken word, recreational field trips, zumba, yoga, tennis, choir (through Grammy-award winning Sounds of Blackness), intramural sports, and so much more…
  • College and Career Exploration that includes local campus and corporate tours
  • Free After Care Services (after dismissal) for K-5 scholars that includes snacks
  • Weekly Parent Empowerment Workshops that includes a light dinner and childcare
  • Community Engagement through partnerships, volunteers, and speakers
